DeStress Monday is excited to announce that NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City is launching its own DeStress Monday campaign today to give hospital staff, caregivers, and the community-at-large helpful ways to reduce stress and lead happier lives.
Previously, NYU Langone’s Department of Integrative Health Programs had teamed with our DeStress Monday staff to develop some of the resources you enjoy here — including mindfulness meditations and stress-reduction tips. Within the hospital system, NYU Langone offers outpatient services, such as acupuncture and massage therapy, as well as inpatients services like progressive muscle relaxation and reiki. However, NYU Langone’s launch of DeStress Monday expands their existing wellness program; just think of how many more people will be inspired now to start every week with a positive frame of mind!
NYU Langone will also be introducing a how-to video on bed yoga, which was co-produced with the DeStress Monday team. Adapted from traditional practices, bed yoga is a fun and flexible way to stretch first thing in the morning! The easy-to-do routine has been especially designed to accommodate and increase flexibility for people of all ages, body types, and abilities. Plus, bed yoga is easier on the wrists and knees because the surface of a bed is more comfortable than a floor.
Creator of the video’s bed yoga routine, Amy Eberhardt, MPH, CYT, LMT, CPMT who is an integrative health educator at NYU Langone, says: “Yoga is a proven stress-reliever, and doing yoga from the comfort of your own bed can help you start the day off upbeat, energetic, and refreshed.”
