Practice some Deep Breathing on the Go!
Whether you’re sitting at a desk, on the move, or at home, take a moment to notice your breathing. In other words, you can do this exercise wherever you are – walking, standing, sitting, or lying down. Inhale with a few normal breaths, and as you do so, notice your chest and diaphragm expanding and contracting, even if it’s minimal. You’re familiarizing yourself with the breath and getting ready to breathe more deeply.
Next, breathe deeply through your nose to the slow count of six. As you do so, feel your chest and belly expanding with air as you inhale. Let your abdomen expand as much as it can until you finish counting. Gently and slowly breathe out through your mouth, while slowly counting to six. Do these deep belly breathing exercises until you feel that calm has been restored.
Stealth deep breathing can be good for your whole body. Its benefits include slowing down your heart rate, (which means your heart is working less), relaxing your muscles, and improving your overall oxygen intake. Now you can curb your stress anytime and anyplace.
