DeStress with the Women in Your Life

To honor the nation’s largest annual health event for women, National Women’s Health & Fitness Day on September 26th, DeStress Monday offer an ideal way to reduce stress and boost your fitness.

This Monday, Walk a Monday Mile! This is a weekly group walk, or jog, for 20 minutes or less that helps everyone start the week by moving together. It was developed by Move It Monday as a fun activity to promote overall health and wellness.

To get started, all you need is a pair of comfortable shoes! To walk a mile, map out a route from where you are and do a one mile round trip from your door. A Monday Mile is also an easy goal to achieve if you’re just getting started with a fitness routine.

Walking is real exercise. Like running, it uses the same muscles but it’s easier and gentler on your joints. It’s also great for your mood, digestion, blood sugar, and it helps you sleep.

Call some friends!  A new study suggests you may add years to your life if you socialize with others while you exercise. Researchers found combining exercise with friends, rather than solitary exercise, led to stress reduction and improved longevity.
